Installing Your Artificial Grass
We have to...
Preparing a hard surface: this is one of the most important steps during the installation. For a hassle free installation the surfase is smooth, clean and level.
Artificial grass should not be intalled directly onto topsoil.
- Removing the natural grass and subsoil to a depth of 10cm.
- Compacting the surface with compactor plate.
- Ensuring that any weeds are removed (recommended to use weed killer spray, weed barrier sheet).
- Applying a minimum of 75mm of MOT type1 or limestone 20mm grade size aggregate onto the the surface and compacting it.
- Using a layer of builders’ sharp sand to a depth of 20-40mm. Compacting this to the required level.
For large areas we have to join two pieces of grass by using joining tape with a suitable adhesive for outdoor using. We can either use a wooden batten to secure the grass or use landscaping nails (placed every 10-20cm).
Finally we are removing all of the surplus pieces of grass and brush with a broom and leaving your premises clear and tidy. 😊
